Figurine of the Five Eternal Thought Amitabha, made by Isum, in polystone.
The "Seated Statue of Amitabha Nyorai Thinking Five Ears" a.k.a. Afrobuddha, a major cultural asset of Nara Prefecture, which I use as an icon for my own installations. The model is a work from the Kamakura period (1185-1333), which is considered a secret Buddha, and was carved from a single cypress tree.
The figure faithfully reproduces the childishness of the figure's plump contours and small mouth, not to mention the individual spiral hairs, with particular attention paid to the amount of gold leaf that has been stripped from the face.
